Gold Coast gymnastics invitational 1 May 2011

This morning we went for a drive (very early for a Sunday morning!) down to Miami on the Gold Coast for the Gold Coast Gymnastics MAG Invitational that Joshua was competing in. It's been a long week getting to this comp, with lots of emotional fall out after the last one - a certain little boy not dealing well with success, and pressure. But in the end, it was his decision to go, and so go we did.

According to Miss Samantha, one of the other Sandgate coaches, this is a bigger comp than Lawnton, and so the marking/judging was harder. Adding to that Joshua had definitely more nerves going in, and they lasted longer, and this of course showed in his scores. He rallied halfway through though, and pulled out better routines on most apparatus. We were so proud to see him doing his best, and were happy to leave it at that, knowing that we had seen some exceptional scores from other boys. So we were all pleasantly surprised to see JB place twice - 5th on rings with another awesome rings routine (see the pic below wher ehe looks like he is flying!) and 6th on high bar, which was a real surprise because HB has been his least fav apparatus for ages.

It was a wearying day, but we were so proud of him!
